Navade Phata Junction Flyover

Easing NH-4 congestion with a 2.2km flyover, cutting commute times and emissions by 20%

The Navade Phata Junction Flyover project aimed to alleviate traffic congestion on NH-4, one of Mumbai’s busiest highways. This 2.2km, six-lane flyover bypasses three major intersections and includes complex ramp systems to manage traffic flow. The project faced challenges due to the need for minimal disruption to existing traffic and strict noise pollution controls in nearby residential areas.

The completed flyover is expected to reduce travel time through this section of NH-4 by up to 30 minutes during peak hours, benefiting over 100,000 daily commuters. The improved traffic flow is projected to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by approximately 20% in the affected area.

Our team supported our civil engineering client responsible for the flyover’s pre-cast segment production. We provided guidance on implementing lean manufacturing principles and assisted in optimising their quality control processes. Our involvement helped increase their production efficiency by over 18% while maintaining the stringent quality standards required for the project.

The MTHL is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai from 2 hours to 20 minutes. This improved connectivity was projected to unlock $4.2 billion in industrial investments in the Navi Mumbai region and significantly decongest Mumbai’s existing eastern and western express highways.

Our team provided crucial support to a marine construction subcontractor involved in the bridge’s segmental construction. We offered expertise in international best practices for marine construction and assisted in optimising their workflow to meet the project’s stringent timelines. We helped improve their productivity by 25% and fully comply with international marine construction standards.
